Insurance and Risk Notice

Review important information regarding insurance coverage, personal responsibility, and inherent risks.


This notice forms part of and is governed by the Terms of Use of Santa Fe.

 

SECTION A – GENERAL: HOTEL SANTA FE AND YACHT SANTA FE

1. Insurance Coverage

Yacht Santa Fe III maintains the mandatory insurance coverage required under Ecuadorian maritime regulations for the lawful operation of the vessel.

Hotel Santa Fe operates in compliance with all legal requirements applicable to accommodation services in Ecuador. Ecuadorian law does not require hotels to maintain specific insurance coverage.

The Company does not provide personal travel insurance, medical insurance, life insurance, or trip cancellation insurance for Clients.

Clients are strongly advised to obtain comprehensive travel insurance prior to arrival.

 

2. Recommended Travel Insurance

Clients should obtain travel insurance that covers, at minimum:

  • Medical treatment and hospitalization
  • Emergency evacuation and repatriation
  • Trip cancellation or interruption
  • Maritime transportation
  • Water and outdoor activities
  • Adventure or nature-based excursions

Clients are solely responsible for ensuring their insurance adequately covers activities in Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands.

 

3. Acknowledgment of Inherent Risks

Clients acknowledge that staying in a remote island destination and participating in maritime and outdoor activities involves inherent risks, including but not limited to:

  • Volcanic terrain and uneven surfaces
  • Slippery docks and vessel boarding
  • Ocean currents and swimming risks
  • Wildlife encounters
  • Sudden weather changes
  • Remote locations with limited medical infrastructure*
  • Maritime navigation risks

Participation in these activities is voluntary and at the Client’s own risk.

Medical services in the Galapagos Islands are limited. In the event of serious illness or injury, evacuation to mainland Ecuador may be required at the Client’s expense.

 

4. Client Responsibility

Clients confirm that they:

  • Are physically and medically fit to travel and participate in activities
  • Will follow all safety instructions provided by the captain, crew, guides, or hotel staff
  • Will disclose relevant medical conditions in advance
  • Will act responsibly to protect their own safety and the safety of others

Failure to comply with safety instructions may result in removal from activities without refund.

 

5. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Ecuadorian law, the Company shall not be liable for:

  • Injuries resulting from failure to follow instructions
  • Undisclosed medical conditions
  • Natural events beyond reasonable control
  • Acts of third parties
  • Force majeure events

Where liability is legally established, it shall be limited to the amount paid for the specific service.

 

SECTION B – YACHT SANTA FE III

6. Captain’s Authority

For maritime services, the captain retains full authority regarding navigation, safety decisions, itinerary adjustments, and emergency procedures in accordance with Ecuadorian maritime law.

All Clients must comply with the captain’s instructions at all times.
